Welwyn Garden City is situated between Hatfield and Stevenage it was
Britain's second 'garden city'. The garden city was the vision of Ebenezer
Howard, one of the worlds great social reformers.
Howard believed that the problems of overcrowding, poor living conditions and pollution could be
solved by combining the town and country. After creating the first garden city at Letchworth in
1903,
Howard went on to develop Welwyn Garden City in 1920.
The Shamrock club was established in 1969 to promote the interests of the local Irish community.
Since it's inception the association's membership has expanded to reflect a wider mix of
nationalities within the Hertfordshire community.
The Shamrock Club organise regular social and sports events which are open to members and their
guests.
A number of major events for the wider community are also held throughout
